The concept of a "guided" inquiry is similar to the concept of "guided design" used by Wales (detailed ref. available on request). Groups of students are taken through an inquiry one step at a time by a series of "tasks" and "feedback" sessions. While each task can have several possible outcomes, only one of them is chosen in the simulation to move the groups to the next "task" or step in the process. That these directions are chosen by the leader of the inquiry is what makes this process "guided".
This particular example was prepared by Matt Wilbur, a level 5 Engineering and Society student using his level 2 inquiry paper as a starting point. Using an actual level 2 inquiry helps students see what can be done at their level.
Proceed with the guided inquiry.
