Discussion Groups
The usual procedure for subscribing to discussion groups maintained by software such as listserv, listproc, or majordomo is to type the following message in the body of your e-mail (leave the subject line blank):
subscribe List Name Your Name
A subscription request from me, to the Computers and Society discussion group (ASASCAN) would look like this:
subscribe ASASCAN David Kincheloe
(written in the body of the message, leaving the subject line blank)The message should be mailed to the address that is listed.
For example, the request for ASASCAN should be mailed to listserv@vm.temple.edu
Mailbase is the most popular system for discussion groups in the United Kingdom.
Type the following in the body of your e-mail to subscribe to a list:
join List Name Your Name
A subscription request to childcare-quality would look like this:
join childcare-quality John Smith
Now send the message to the address that is listed.
This request would be sent to mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk
