SoftArc is a privately held Canadian company which specializes in multiplatform communications software. The company has developed the First Class Client communications software. The software is in use at over 400 sites world-wide and four million users currently use this electronic mail and messaging system. SoftArc is a member of the Apple Partners Program and has recently expanded into the Windows NT market. The Client software is used by businesses, educational institutions, government and public online services. The company has received several international awards for the First Class Client [newsgroup]. It is currently running on the LEARNLINK Biology server at McMaster University in support of several courses. Its interest in the Medical Lab Technologist [Project [# 3 ( c)] is that it potentially opens up a huge market for it within the Canadian Society of Medical Lab Technologists. As a partner of EvNet and Project 3 ( C ) under the direction of Dr. Delsworth Harnish, it is willing to pledge in-kind contributions of $600 in server licencing, $39,000 for 1,000 client licences, $4,000 in software support, and $3,500 in administration training.
