On the assumption that we will be a finalist in Round Two in the competition under SSHRC's Strategic Research Networks in Education and Training, it is important that we move now towards the development of our final application. Toward this end, please offer your comments and critiques of the present letter of intent with an eye on the final application.

My own thinking is that the present document is adequate as a letter of intent, but it falls short in serving as a final application. In particular,

  1. There are probably too many projects for the amount of monies available. Accordingly, think about whether some projects can be dropped, or merged with others.
  2. Many of the projects are stated at far too general a level. They are too vague in research goals and methodologies. A mini-research design needs to be developed for each project we hope to retain in the final application. Please address this question in your remarks below.
  3. If you have a stake in one or more projects, please provide a statement elaborating that project in as concrete terms as possible.
  4. If you hope to be part of the fiinal application, please provide the requested information by May 1st, 1996.
