Socialist Feminism

Socialist feminism, responding to radical feminist critiques of orthodox and neo-marxism, thought that class, gender/sex, race/ethnicity, and even heterosexism were all important bases of exploitation and oppression, but were unable to state in the abstract which ones were more important than the others. They felt that one had to examine each socio-historical situation empirically before determining whether one form of exploitation/oppression outweighed one or more others. As a result, socialist feminists have never been able to develop a 'grand theory' of multiple systems of oppression/exploitation on a scale of Marx's Labour Theory of Value, the foundation of his seminal three-volume work, Das Kapital.
